Running two versions of PHP

To run two versions of PHP at the same time or to run differing versions of PHP for different vhosts, you need to run one as an apache module and one or more as CGI.

The entries to add to a vhost block look like the following:

SetEnv PHPRC "/usr/local/php5"
ScriptAlias /php5/ "/usr/local/php5/"
Action application/x-httpd-php5 "/php5/bin/php"
AddType application/x-httpd-php5 .php .inc
<Directory "/usr/local/php5/bin">
   <Files "php">
    Allow from all
   </Files>
</Directory>
