apache installation

Does it make a difference what order you install php, apache and mySQL? I am trying to teach myself php for web building and I cannot get past installing apache. Everything seemed to be going fine until I did the apache configuration and had to restart the server. Then it gave me an error and I have not been able to get it to work since. I tried uninstalling it and doing it again but it just won't run. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks, webwoman

Re: apache installation

In general I'd install MySQL first, then apache, then PHP.  But you can make it work with any combination, but it may require more work on the configuration files.

What are the errors you are seeing ?  What does your apache configration file (httpd.conf and the contents of conf.d/ ) look like ?

Re: apache installation

Oh- I uninstalled it to try again, got the same message (saying that it could not locate a certain file, a file from the php folder, I think it was called php5apache2.dll) and uninstalled again. I will try to install again and then maybe see if I can give more info.

thanks Walker

Re: apache installation

the error message I'm getting is this:

syntax error on line 128 of c:/program files/apache software foundation/apache2.2/conf/httpd.cnf: Cannot load c:/php/php5apache2.dll into server: the specified module could not be found.

does that help to know what is wrong?
